![]() However, male Phoenix tend to become aggressive during the mating season, in which they will use their flying abilities to conduct impressive air battles against other males. With many defensive tools upon their bodies, a phoenix can easily manage alone as an individual, but this species has been able to intellectually understand that advancement requires a collaborative effort. Phoenix’s prefer to dwell in land-based flocks where they can breed and construct nests in protective groups called rings. As for how these parts remain in front of the phoenix, static and/or gravitational pull have been two leading theories. It is then assumed that this gas has helium properties and is therefore lighter than air. Further research has proven that these units are virtually weightless despite their ability to produce a gaseous spit from their quills. One of the more defining features of the phoenix are the pair of identical, spiked units which float in front of the chest and seem to defy gravity in every sense. Dressed upon the back of the phoenix’s head are two spiked crests which cascade down into further spikes on its backside before re-cresting between its long, frilled tails. Perched above its nostrils is a pair of placid, forwards eyes which seem nearly white in the right lighting conditions. The phoenix’s primary facial feature is its obscenely large beak which takes up over 2/3 of the creature’s head weight and has a permanent egg tooth near the base. As well, a blunt spike can be found protruding from the heel of every foot. Oddly enough, the phoenix’s most forward feet appear webbed in an amphibious manner and seem to suggest that it once used to be a water-dwelling creature adding a complete paradox to the traditional phoenix. Regardless, the phoenix is an extremely adept quadruped creature with the ability to easily travel both on ground and in the sky. ![]() Some believe that this stemmed from the traditional six-legged insect, while others recognize the extra limbs as a prehistoric trait that has yet to disappear from a lack of need. The phoenix is a particularly unique variety of bird when you question how it could have possibly evolved six different limbs on its body, wings included. ![]()
